Rosie and Rufus named children's author winner of the 2017 International Rubery Book Award.
The International Rubery Book Award (RBA) is the longest established book award in the UK for indie authors.
According to RBA judges, " The robins' fun and cat's plotting creates the perfect balance of excitement and tension throughout the book."
" The pictures are delightful and the words have a pleasing rhythm and rhyme, creating both comfort and tension when reading out loud,"
" A deceptively simple book that would stand up to endless readings- one of those books that remains in the memory long afterwards."
It is a tremendous honour for "Rosie and Rufus" to be recognised by the RBA judges.
I cannot think of a finer compliment than it being called a "deceptively simple book " as I always aim to write and paint deftly.
After a few years caring for my mum, I am now enjoying working on my second book, " Sidney Squirrel's Secret."
I wrote this story after watching a very greedy squirrel, Sidney, who upsets the birds in my garden when he steals their nuts!
It is another adventure into the garden life of my cottage. I am hoping one day, it too, will be described "as a deceptively simple book!" being similar in style, with watercolour illustrations and lots of rhythm and rhyme.
For now I am enjoying bringing Sidney, and the other characters, to life, through the illustrations, some of which I have added to this site.
